Red for Ed

Today in Los Angeles, 32,000 teachers and staff continued into day four of their strike for smaller class sizes and better pay.

Teaching Artists Guild stands with our certified teacher colleagues during the strike. Small class sizes, better services for students, including an increase in nursing staff and other professionals, and better pay should be the standard, not the exception, in order to best serve students. We hope the district can see it’s way to making these changes quickly.

LAUSD onsite, during school-day arts programming taught with teaching artist partners should be cancelled during the strike. It is our hope that most programs may be rescheduled when the strike concludes. We understand that this may be a hardship to arts providing organizations and individuals.

Teaching Artists working in LA Unified, please let us know about your situation or what effect the strike is having on you. We welcome thoughts and comments from teaching artists everywhere.
