Teaching Artists Guild (TAG) Tools 101

The Teaching Artists Guild (TAG) is a space for TA’s, created by TA’s. Learn how to use the Pay Rate Calculator and negotiate for a living wage, connect with a community of TA’s in your region and organizations looking to hire, learn about our National Advisory Council so you can advocate for other TA’s, and many other free tools available to TA’s through TAG. This workshop will be presented by the TAG Co-Executive Directors and TAP (Teaching Artist Project) alums Katie Rainey and Kerry Warren.

Facilitator Bios:

Katie Rainey is a writer, teacher, and editor from Little Rock, Arkansas. She is the winner of the 2017 Bechtel Prize at Teachers & Writers Magazine, the 2017 Lazuli Literary Group Writing Contest and the 2018 Montana Award for Fiction from Whitefish Review. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Lit Hub, Writer’s Digest, The Collagist, 3AM Magazine, and more. She currently serves as a Co-Executive Director of the Teaching Artists Guild (TAG), Project Manager of the International Teaching Artist Collaborative’s EDEN Project, and Director of Communications at Creative Generation. Previously she served as the Director of Community-Word Project’s Teaching Artist Project (TAP) and has been a teaching artist for over 10 years.

Kerry Warren (she/her/hers) is a Biracial New York based Actor and Teaching Artist. She recently accepted the position of Co-Executive Director of the Teaching Artists Guild (TAG), an advocacy organization for teaching artists run by teaching artists. She is a graduate of the Juilliard School where she received The President Polisi Prize for Artist as Citizen. She has taught with Harlem Children’s Zone, Lincoln Center Education, G!RLBEHEARD, People’s Theatre Project, the 52nd Street Project, EPIC theatre, NYTW, ArtsConnection, and a member of NYC Artist in Education Roundtable. As an actor she has performed on Broadway, Off Broadway, and regionally. Her theatrical credits include Broadway: The River with Hugh Jackman Off Broadway: Life Sucks (Theatre Row); This Is How It Ends (59E59); Much Ado About Nothing Mobile Unit (The Public Theater) Regional: The Tempest (Pittsburg Public); Romeo and Juliet (Dallas Theater Center); Office Hour (Berkeley Rep & Long Wharf); The Originalist (Arena Stage); Twelfth Night and The Book Of Will (Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival); Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike (Baltimore Center Stage) Television: Broad City, New Amsterdam, Law & Order SVU.
