Biography

I have worked with many different people of many ages with many different skill levels during my 30+ years of being a teaching artist.  I’m known for my ability to divide complex tasks down into step-by-step processes, as well as for my patience when working with people.

My primary focus is on quilt-making, but sewing in general – making smaller items, such as bags or table runners – is also a large part of my work.  So you could say I am a Visual Artist, but also a Traditional Artist, although my work is often NOT traditional!!

In addition to teaching, I also try to sell my work at craft shows.  And I have organized craft shows to benefit local non-profit groups, with much success and very high marks, both from the public as well as from the crafters/artists I work with.

I recently completed the NJ State Council on the Arts’ Master/Apprentice grant program, working with my apprentice on creating a story-telling quilt about the glass-making industry in Southern NJ.

I have also done grant work with a Homebound program, working with Seniors at their location, as well as in-school residencies.

I am always up to taking on new challenges, and am looking forward to whatever the future has to offer.
