Teaching Artist
I worked with New Jersey Performing Art Center’s after-school residencies.
My job was to provide guidance for arts engagement in creative writing through
writing prompts, the imagination, reading, sharing and critiquing each other’s work.
I learned how to prepare lesson plans and how to motivate students from various backgrounds and skill levels. Prior to the end of the residency, I assisted in typing students’ writing for inclusion in the final publication.

I was further inspired and further understood the processes through the provided professional development sessions.

I learned how to change my persona from that of a practicing artist to one of a teacher once entering the classroom to instruct students.

Accomplishments: Coached students in reciting poetry and helped prepare them to recite or read at the combined performance. I helped students to improve spelling whenever necessary.
