Looking for Teaching Artists for 2013-14 School Year

STEAM-Powered Curriculum to Implement Common Core Standards Campbell and San Jose School DistrictsMontalvo Arts Center is pleased to announce teaching artist positions available for in-school residencies focused on the implementation of the Common Core State educational standards within a STEAM framework. This position will place artists in schools to work directly with teachers to redesign their lessons to be arts-centered and to emphasize multidisciplinary creativity and problem-solving.
This position is both arts education for students as well as arts based professional development for teachers and administrators.
Candidate must:
Work professionally as a visual artist or musician with Orff instrumentation experience.
Be able to draw curriculum connections, most specifically with English Language Arts/Writing
Have previous experience working with arts integration in schools as a teaching artist and be able to provide references from such work
Be able to work collaboratively with teachers and administrations and act as a team player
Be organized and able to communicate effectively to collaborating teachers in a timely manner
Be willing and able to attend professional development sessions for both Teaching Artists and teachers
Flexible, positive, creative, and willing to adapt teaching to each specific residency
An understanding of the Common Core State Standards and STEAM is a plus.
These positions will be scheduled 10 weeks in the fall, roughly September 30-December 13, and 10 weeks in the spring, roughly January 13-March 20. Teaching Artists will likely be scheduled 1-3 days a week, with flexibility. There will be a Professional Development day for all teachers and teaching artists in the beginning of September. Pay is dependent on experience.
