NET is a national organization propelling ensemble theater practice to the forefront of culture and society. I helped develop and advocate for the formation of NET and served on the board for 3 years (one as president). NET is a seminal and vital organization in the theater field – supporting, convening, researching, documenting and advancing ensemble theater practice. I learned that individuals and organizations with practices outside the norm in their local ecology can learn and exchange energy from sustained relationships with other like-minded individuals/orgs outside of their region. My belief in dialogue, community, collective responsibility in leadership and creative endeavors was confirmed by the number of practitioners and diversity of knowledge/power embedded and projected in this organization’s membership.
