Brave New Voices Manager: Managed all logistics for Brave New Voices, the largest international youth poetry festival in the world, over 4-5 days with 600 participants and 70+ events. Built and supervised Future Corps, a team of 15-25 young (19-24 years old) BNV alumni and trained them to facilitate the cultural and programmatic elements of the festival. Developed systems for communication between a staff of 70+ on 10 different teams. Developed international advisory committees comprised of 30 youth and adult BNV participants to inform the safety and accessibility, culture, and programming of the festival. Co-developed new systems to support the physical and mental safety for all participants and increase accessibility for deaf, disabled, and gender non-conforming participants. Edited all festival communications on multiple platforms of internal and external correspondence for accuracy, quality, consistency, and gaps. Designed and executed international digital poetry contests with prizes totaling $18k. Organized panels on education, climate change, gender equity, poverty, and juvenile justice at the Kennedy Center featuring young poets as well as politicians, executives, and other field leaders. Curated local and national talent. || The Bigger Picture Campaign Manager: Managed all programming for The Bigger Picture Campaign, a collaboration with UCSF’s Center for Vulnerable Populations, which inspires young people to change the conversation about Type 2 diabetes by exposing the environmental and social conditions that lead to its spread. Field produced short films featured in the New York Times and Huffington Post. Co-authored a paper in Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). Created curriculum for and facilitated writing workshops, statewide teacher and advocate trainings, and high school assemblies. Co-created scalable models for in school and after school programming. Managed and established over 20 community organization partnerships. Created content for social media. Managed 25 artist bookings per year. Co-created new resources including the Paths to Policy Playbook. Managed budget up to $100k. Annually produced the Food Justice Zone with People’s Kitchen Collective to fundraise for and execute a free breakfast for 500 people in the tradition of the Black Panthers, coordinated tabling for local organizations, and curated a show of performers and speakers on the topic of food justice. || Raise Up Project Manager: Designed and executed Raise Up, a $500k partnership with Corporation for Public Broadcasting, to amplify youth voices on educational equity through an online hip hop and spoken word poetry contest. Drove strategy and communications that yielded over 750 video submissions and 158 million social media impressions. Distributed scholarship and grant prizes totaling $50k. Produced a radio and video series with NPR and a culminating show at the Kennedy Center featuring the five contest winners and special guests including DJ Questlove, Black Thought, and other renowned artists and educators from across the country.
