Mariposa Arts

Mariposa Arts is a model community service-learning program, where high school students engage in an intensive curriculum development and arts training and, together with professional Teaching Artists, travel to elementary schools and teach to elementary and middle school students during after school programs. This opportunity provides high school youth not only the pride and excitement of a paid job, but also a window into the experience of teaching. Elementary school students are delighted to have high school role models and to have the opportunity to create art together and learn about themselves. High school students receive stipends for their internship, earn elective credits, and provide service to school sites that are lacking in art and enrichment programs.
