SPECTRA

SPECTRA Matching Grants provide schools from throughout the county a financial resource to support offering curriculum-based learning opportunities to students through arts workshops, residencies, and performances taught by SPECTRA artists. These Matching Grants ensure that, despite increasingly shrinking school budgets, children still have access to high‐quality arts education. Public schools are eligible to apply for 1:1 matching grants, up to $1,500. A simple one-page grant application is submitted by the school for quick turn-around. Staff assists schools to match SPECTRA artists with their curricular needs. A roster of highly qualified professional teaching artists in the Visual, Performing and Literary Arts is maintained and updated annually. Teaching artists are selected through a panel review process and their work is promoted to schools throughout Santa Cruz County. The Teaching Artist Directory lists descriptions of SPECTRA Teaching Artist performances, workshops and residency programs for schools and is also currently being developed into a comprehensive, interactive, on-line publication to connect those who want to learn an art form with teaching artists and arts organizations throughout the community.
